SigEp 15 – Rams 30 | IM football

Wednesday, September 14th was a good look at the way SigEp will be playing this sports intramural season for football. Playing with only 7 players and no subs, the team had its moments of shining but broke down in critical areas. On two of their 5 attempts within the red zone, the ball was turned over twice. An interception on fourth down, and an interception that was tipped by two Sigep players before falling in the hands of a rams defender the drive after. The rams scored 12 points in the first half but were denied both point after attempts by the stellar play of the defensive secondary with Sal, Curtis Morte, Aiden Laroco and Eric Young. SigEp also made a stand with 20 seconds remaining in the first half to stop the Rams from scoring again with a key 4 yard tackle for a loss by Preston Graham. SigEp had the ball at the beginning of the second half and marched down the field to score on 6 yard run by quarterback Curtis Morte who earlier in the drive hooked up on a big play with Frankie Beardsley for a key first down. On the attempt for a point after touch down, the ball was intercepted again but for no gain to the rams. The rams then went on to score another touchdown, but were yet again denied a point after touchdown. This time Aiden Laroco hooked up with Sal for a big 20 yard completion and immediately after threw Desmond Buksh a touchdown at the back of the endzone. The extra point attempt for 3 points from 20 yards out was then completed by Laroco to Graham putting the score at 18-15. Fatigue set in and with no subs, the Sigep defense was wore out. A pair of two touchdowns by the rams put the final score at 15 – 30. Sigep struggled at the quarterback position today as Morte’s numbers rushing were impressive while playing QB but he was having trouble hooking up with receivers. While only throwing for 43 yards, he rushed 55 yards on 8 carries. Laroco stepped in in the final 8 minutes of the game with an impressive 45 yards passing on his 6/10 attempts. The issue though is Laroco and Morte are both offensive utility players but are having to play quarterback due to not having a legitimate quarterback. All will change next week though as all 14 players will be in attendance because recruitment will be over and with the addition of our new brother Alex, who is a true quarterback, it will be interesting to see what the offense can come up with. Next week look for SigEp to use the rushing game of tailback Morte and the passing threats of Young, Laroco, Buksh, Sal, and Beardsly.

DO NOT MISS THIS EVENT. It is one of the best rush events of the semester out of every fraternity. Big hits, goals, and plenty of fun. Wear pants and a long sleeve shirt with good shoes to wear on ice. If you have elbow and knee pads, it is best to bring them. Invite Only Night – End of Rush

Friday, September 16th: INVITE ONLY NIGHT.

Invite only night is where all of the people who would like to join the fraternity can come and become brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon if they have received a bid. To get a bid, each PNM (Possible New Member) will be reviewed by the Rush Committee and the Executive Committee of the chapter. If a majority vote is passed, that member will be given a bid to join the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity if they choose so. On the 16th, they become full brothers and have just as much say and right to be in the fraternity as any other brother does if they go through.
